About The Life Center
The Life Center is a church where people can come, be themselves and worship Christ. For those who don't know Him, The Life Center is a place where they can meet Him. Jesus stated in John 14:6 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me (NIV)." Jesus also stated in John 10:10 "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (KJV)."

Why The Life Center? - Jay: For most of my life, I walked around believing that I was spiritually alive, but I was truly spiritually dead. Since turning my life over to Christ in 1994, I have learned what life is. My goal is to share that life with as many people as possible.
What are some of the goals of The Life Center? - Jay: First, we want to introduce people to Christ. Then our goal is to help mature them in Christ. My main desire is to see people become all that God has called them to be. I have been in ministry for 7 years and the saddest part for me has been watching people being forced to "sit" on their gifts and talents. Because of this, many churches never reach their full potential. That WILL NOT be the case at The Life Center. Those who are a part of the fellowship will be strongly encouraged to use the gifts that God has given them. This is a "BODY" effort.
What will the atmosphere of The Life Center be like? - Normal (smiling). What I mean by "normal" is that a lot of times people put on a show in church. We behave very much like the Pharisees. We appear to be spiritual, but inside, we are full of dead men's bones (spiritually dead).
- People can come as they are. You come in jeans or a tux. God is concerned with the heart and so are we. We are more concerned with you pleasing God versus pleasing us. We deal with issues that people can plainly understand. I must warn you. My wife and I do "cut-up". You will laugh.
- We will also focus on balance. Many people know of Jesus, but they really don't know the character of Christ. Our Wednesday Bible Study will emphasize knowing who Jesus is.
- Members of The Life Center will be encouraged to experience freedom in Christ. Legalism and Control are not parts of the vision that God has given us. Many people have given up on church because of an abusive church situation. In all honesty, that is the reason why I did not attend nor respect church for 23 years of my life. There were things that I could see that did not line up with what I knew God's Word said. Instead of distinguishing "church people and their actions" from God, I blamed God and distanced myself from Him and His church. In my heart, I loved God and wanted to please Him, but the things I saw turned me off. It was only once I really started reading God's Word that I could see that He hated the very things that turned me off to "church". Many people face this same dilemma everyday and do not understand what is happening. We will teach people how to allow the Holy Spirit to heal any wounds that they have suffered in church so that they can be restored and fulfill God's purpose for their lives.
- We will challenge members to grow. Members will identify their spiritual gifts and then be encouraged to develop it. A lot of times people are taught, but are not given the opportunity to exercise what they have been taught. Therefore they become frustrated and stagnant. That is an unhealthy church environment. Will The Life Center be outreach focused or local body (church) focused? - Both. The Word instructs us to reach the lost (Matthew 28:19-20)Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. However, the Word also instructs the church to prepare the members for the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. There has to be a balance in outreach efforts and building the spiritual lives of church members. I have seen where some churches have very little focus on outreach. I have also seen churches that had too much emphasis on outreach at the expense of the church members. The Word states that (Proverbs 11:1) "A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight."
